Anyone willing to explain the practical difference between rooting Android and flashing Android? I explain. I have an old Samsung Galaxy phone. Want to try Sailfish OS. Original procedure from 2022: TWRP, Lineage OS (LOS) then Sailfish OS. I have read about Odin to flash partitions with firmware images. Then came Heimdall. Then samloader-rs, built on the latter, as part of instructions to install newer LOS. Do I still need TWRP with Heimdall/samloader-rs and LOS recovery? Do I still need rooting?
